"The house itself is a bold gesture--in geometry and materials—appropriate for the steep, rugged and elemental site. The main living area (kitchen/dining/living) is all open plan, and has soaring ceiling heights and dramatic views to the south. The spaces were designed to be bright, airy and ‘loft-like’ in feel. The second floor cantilevers dramatically over the main floor to allow for large covered outdoor living spaces, important in this mild but wet climate."
